“The Light Is On For You.” December 18, 2019, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. During these hours confession is offered in all Churches in the Houma-Thibodaux diocese.
December 8th, Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception The traditional day for the Solemnity is December 8, which coincides with the Second Sunday of Advent. The latter celebration takes precedence, therefore the Solemnity is transferred to Monday, December 9. The obligation of the faithful to participate in Mass, however, remains on December 8th and is thus fulfilled by participating in Mass on that day.
on this week's Homily
Our celebration this weekend invites each of us to ask: Is there something I’ve been putting off doing that could help usher in God’s Kingdom here in Houma?
iGiveCatholic will kick off raising funds for Convent Phase I – Roof, AC, Doors.
Our goal is $200,000, which gives a small cushion for contingency
1. Roof Replacement - The convent roof is the original roof and has been leaking for some time. It is a major factor contributing to the deterioration of some of the walls, like we have had in the church and rectory. COST OF ROOF REPAIR: $156,927.00 - Fix the roof - and we fix our biggest problem!
2. Replacement of Air Conditioners - The air conditioners are grossly outdated and inefficient; they run all day, but are not properly cooling the building or removing the moisture that accumulates, which results in mildew on the walls. COST OF (4) A/C REPLACEMENT: $31,500.00
3. Replacement of 3 sets (6) doors – The beautiful stained glass is bowing, the doors have become a safety issue. COST OF 3 DOUBLE DOOR REPLACEMENT: $7,143.09
With these repairs done, we can confidently move forward in phases over the next few years to take care of some of the remaining needs in the convent, such as waterproofing, replacing lower windows
